Simple Discipleship (Napkin Theology)

GROWTH INSIGHT OTHERS

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

Our passion is making disciples that make disciples...that make disciples.
It was Neil Cole who popularized the "napkin theology" method. He tells us that any substantive truth worth passing on should be reproducible on a napkin. If it can be sketched on a napkin it can be easy to put into practice, train others to do, and multiply.

Jesus has called us to join him in his work of redemption by making disciples. If we are to fulfill the Great Commission, then our discipleship practices need to be simple, practical, and easy to replicate. We use a simple set of questions that focus on three principles that can be used anytime, anyplace, by anyone. In doing so, we learn in the context of community, engaging God's word directly, and make disciples that make disciples.

Three Questions:
GROWTH  - What is an area of your life that you need growth in? (help, prayer, confession, accountability)
INSIGHT   - What did you hear, notice, or have questions about from our reading? (regular time in the Scriptures)
OTHERS   - Who are we praying for this week? (pray for two people in you life to encounter Jesus in a new way)

Interacting over these three things, in the context of community, makes for a discipleship experience that can dig deep while still being accessible to anyone. The calling of the Great Commission is to all of us who follow Jesus. It is not an activity specifically for church professionals or the spiritual elite. There is no clergy title, advanced degree, or special ranking required.
